Dear BlueJ users,
We are happy to announce the release of BlueJ 1.1. The system is now
available for (free, as always) download from the BlueJ web site at
http://bluej.monash.edu
BlueJ 1.1 is a major step forward. In fact, it includes the largest number
of changes that we have ever included in a single release. It was
extensively beta tested and seems to work very reliably.
Some new features include:
o UML-style notation for the class diagram
o support for named and nested packages
o improved import of non-BlueJ packages
o terminal text can be saved or copied
o interactive calls can be automatically recorded in the
text terminal (to document testing)
o the editor font can be changed
o "export" function to create standard Java packages and
executable jar files
o projects have project comments (README note)
o javadoc support for single classes and whole projects
o cascading menus for large menus
o the debugger can now be used with swing applications
o classes can be renamed in the class source
As always, feedback and discussion is very welcome. I would like to take
the opportunity to thank those users who have contributed valuable feedback
on the BlueJ discussion mailing list
(http://lists.bluej.org/mailman/listinfo/bluej-discuss) and helped to
improve the quality of the system.
Enjoy!
Michael
