Dear BlueJ Users,

We are ready to announce the first public beta of the

	NetBeans IDE / BlueJ Edition

For download and documentation, please go to

	http://www.bluej.org/netbeans/

For those of you who haven't heard of this project, here is a very
brief summary:

The NetBeans IDE / BlueJ Edition is a variation of the NetBeans IDE
aimed to be used as the second environment after using BlueJ for
introductory learning of programming. (Note that this IDE does not
aim to replace BlueJ -- it does not include some of the main BlueJ
tools. It is designed to be used to complement BlueJ.)

The NetBeans / BlueJ edition is a full, professional IDE that is
carefully designed to initially look very simple and easy to
understand for BlueJ users (it borrows some of BlueJ iconography).
The powerful, professional features can then be gradually switched on
to ease students' path into using the full NetBeans toolset.

This new IDE version provides for the first time a coordinated IDE
sequence (BlueJ -> NetBeans) that covers educational support in
initial courses and professional tools for advanced courses.

More information on this IDE is on the web site quoted above.

Regards,

Michael
(for the BlueJ team)
