Dear BlueJ-discuss users,
There have been several discussions and comments -- some on this
list, some to me personally -- about content of this list.
Originally, the list was for discussion of the BlueJ environment, its
features, uses, etc.
Recently, more and more posts are about getting help with Java
exercises from the 'Objects First' book, or general Java questions.
We would like to regain the original focus. So we have decided to
split this list in two:
1 This list, bluej-discuss, will be used only for BlueJ-related
discussion and suggestions. We will not have general Java programming
discussion on this list. (We will "enforce" this by asking people
nicely to stop posting these kinds of things here when they do, and
eventually ban them from the list if they do not wish to honour the
list rules repeatedly over some time.)
2 We have set up a separate list for discussion of Java exercises
related to the book. The list is called 'objects-first-discussion',
and the list page to subscribe (or read archives, etc.) is here:
http://lists.bluej.org/mailman/listinfo/objects-first-discussion
Currently, none of you is subscribed to this new list. You all
remain, by default, subscribed to the bluej-discuss list.
Note that the objects-first-discussion list will concentrate on the
book exercises. This is not intended to be a general Java forum.
These already exist on the Sun site, and we have no intention of
duplicating this.
So, for all of you:
- If you are interested in just BlueJ discussion, but not Java
exercise discussion, there is nothing you need to do.
- If you are interested in both, go to the new list page and
subscribe to the objects-first-discussion list.
- If you are interested in just the book exercise discussion,
unsubscribe from the bluej-discuss list (see footer of this mail) and
subscribe to the new one.
I hope that this decision is in the best interest of the majority of
users of this list.
Regards,
Michael
