Hi Hugh,

Just a few quick questions - firstly, do you have different java 
versions on Vista and XP? (The help->about BlueJ menu shows a dialog 
which will tell you the java version). I suspect that the compiled class 
files are for a particular version and that this is confusing the older 
version (on XP).

Secondly, how are you compiling on the XP machine when it fails - right 
click individual class and "compile", the "compile" button in the 
window, or "rebuild package" from the tools menu? If you haven't tried 
already tried the latter, I recommend doing so. It may succeed where 
compiling individual files fails.
